The Thick of It is the debut full-length album from New York-based songwriter and artist Sophie Buskin. Produced by Kevin Copeland, the record is rooted in indie folk songwriting, weaving together original songs, cassette and field recordings, voice memos, and other fragments of the artist's world.
At the heart of the album are Buskin’s vivid, intimate lyrics and melodies, grounding its more experimental moments in something direct and deeply human.
Sincere, absurd, tender, The Thick of It unfolds like a scrapbook: overlapping voices, sticky notes, polished pieces, distorted memories. Humor interrupts grief, nostalgia collides with clarity and emerges in unlikely places. The result is something intimate, playful, and occasionally disorienting.

An exploration of what it feels like to exist inside contradiction, the album finds connection and even comfort in the midst of chaos.
